Morning Programme 19th August

Just a trio today!

Only 3 boys today, but what a team!

First up we had Archie, who spoke to us about a famous Englishman, called Sir David Attenborough, who is 90 years old.  He is famous for his interest, knowledge and involvement in nature.  He has written, produced and narrated many nature programs that are viewed world wide.  In 1985 he became a "Sir" when the Queen knighted him.
He has even had some plants, insects and birds named after him.  How cool.  Archie showed us a YouTube clip where we could see and hear David Attenborough going the Natural History Museum.  Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWS-lDLQmmA

Next up was David, who gave us a great description about himself and his family.  Some things we knew but many we didn't.  When David was only 2 he went on a big voyage on the oil tanker ship that his Dad worked on (which was about 4 rugby fields long, gosh that's big).  He went to many countries, saw lots of marine life and crossed the equator.   David's Mum and Dad used to live in Bombay in India which has 19 million people - that is almost 5 times more people than there are in all of NZ, in just one city! Wow!  David's grandparents still live in India  We also learned that David loves aircrafts especially the A380 and wants to be a pilot when he grows up.

Number 3 today was Lars with a Book Review.  Lars shared with us a story he is enjoying from an Enid Blyton series, "The Enchanted Wood."  The main characters are Joe, Beth, Moonface, Frannie and The Funny Old Saucepan Man.  Lars likes this story as they climb a magic tree called "The Faraway Tree," up to a cloud.  In the cloud there are different world's like Toyland and Partyland,
to explore.  He rates the story 10/10 and recommends it for boys, girls and adults.
