Welcome back to term 4 - absolutely filled with a huge variety of activities.
To start the term our focus is on our performance of Noah. We are learning to "share the stage" and know when to be the key performers, and when to take a lesser role as a supporter of those on centre stage. Our singing is sounding fantastic and hopefully it will only take a day or so to polish those words again. We will be rehearsing at school this week and at the Alexandra Memorial Theatre in Skird St, next week, with performances Wednesday 19th 1pm and 6:30pm, and Thursday 20th 6:30pm. Tickets will be sold at school and this year you can 'book your seat' on the theatre plan.
At the end of last term Quinn's mum let me know that she has spare black pants that a boy could borrow for their Jamaican costume - please get in touch with her if you would like to take up this offer.
The Eisteddfod this term is a speech. these will be heard on Monday and Tuesday 5th & 6th December with the school eisteddfod assembly on Thursday 8th.
Some dates for the calendar:
Tuesday 25th October - Years 3 & 4 Girls Self Defence Course. Uniform is school sports uniform - black shorts or green track pants and school tee-shirts.
Athletic Sports at Molyneux Stadium - Week 3: Wednesday 26th (if Alex Primary don't need their cancellation day) = best option, or Thursday 27th ( if The Terrace don't need their cancellation day) or Friday 28th. I understand this is not the ideal information, however if Alexandra Primary have theirs on Friday 21st, then our day will be Wednesday 26th. If you are able to help with running or assisting at an event. or judging at sprints or hurdles I would be keen to hear from you.
Central Otago Athletic Sports: Tuesday 1st November. Entries to this are made according to results from our athletics. 8 year olds and above.
Tuesday = All Saints Day - come dressed as your favourite saint. Find out some information about him/her and be ready to share and explain why you chose this person.
Saturday 29th October = Combined Churches Light Party at the park.
Wednesday 2 November = Thyme Festival Lunchtime Concert 12:00
Saturday 5th November = Family Mass 6pm.
Sunday 20th November - Celebration of 1st Holy Communion for the year 4 students who have taken part in the sacramental programme. Please support these children as they make their next step in church membership.
Graduation Mass for Year 8 students: Tuesday 13th December 6pm
Uniform:
This term the uniform is the summer uniform. Girls, this can be worn with sandals or black shoes and socks. "Runners" are not part of the school uniform. Sunhat are compulsory this term. No hat = no play. We are a sunsmart school so this is very important to keep us all safe.
Athletic Training: Tuesday 11th, Thursday 13th this week and Thursday 20th, Friday 21st next week. You can choose to wear the sports uniform on these days with runners.
Homework:
Reading: Complete the reading log - read every night.
Noah: Learn your words, practise your dance, make sure you have sorted your costume.
Get out and enjoy some outdoor activities in this super spring weather. Athletic Club starts Monday at 6pm at Molyneux Park.
