Oops, I see I didn't publish the week 3 information! Sorry folks.
We are leading Monday prayer in the church at 9am - please join us. Thank you Eden for working on the reading over the weekend.
Camp: Hoping that everyone received the hard copy information that went home on Wednesday. I have walked the track at Gabriel's Gully. An interesting place and worth a visit. Homework: make an effort to do some walking between now and camp. Up and down to the clock would be a great spot as the first part of the track is fairly steep, but worth the effort.
If there is anyone willing to assist Mrs Dwyer to organise the food, please get in touch with her.
Mihimihi: this week we will have Ms Tamati work with us to complete our mihimihi. We will learn the language to talk about our brothers and sisters. Each person has their mihimihi in the front of their homework books, and now is the time to work on committing it to memory, so that by camp everyone will be able to introduce themselves confidently.
I am excited as I am seeing some of our fridge words appearing in writing books and the quality of the language being used in the personal writing in diaries is improving too. Thank you to those of you who are talking about these words each week at home. We are trying to widen our oral vocabulary and then use our Growth Mindset to take a risk in our writing and use words like these, that we tool to record †he sounds we hear.
Spelling: the learning focus last week and this, is the long 'o' vowel sound and the related spelling patterns.
Fridge Words: luminous, crouched
Reading: What a wonderful selection of library books I have seen. Be sure to read something of your choice every night. The more you read, the better you get and the better you write. Don't forget to jot down words that you think you might use in your writing. (Your own fridge words).
Wednesday: School is not open. I understand that the ice rink is now staying open until Wednesday so that skating may be an activity. The last chance for a skate for this season.
Thursday: Soccer training - please wear school sports uniform. Tessa from Football South.
Friday - Assembly - Room 5 will be leading. Year 4 students will be presented with their Rotary dictionaries. Perfect timing as we are gaining independence in proof reading our writing.
A month till camp - getting excited. Have a great week.
