Goldfish For the Holidays

Our 3 goldfish are looking for a caring family to stay with over the holidays.  They are in an enclosed environment so would just be entertainment for any cats - no gaps for fishing paws!!

Several people have indicated that they would like to have these visitors for the holidays - could you please let me know if you can help?

Thank you Caity and Grace.  Could one of you please pick the fish up whenever it suits before Thursday afternoon?

If the fish are still here, Joshua will take them home.

Dates for Term Two

A school planner will come home early next term, but here are dates that can be put onto calendars.

Tuesday 3 June: Kahurangi Maori Theatre performance 9:30 - 10:30

Swimming Programme: 6 year olds to year 4, every Tuesday & Friday starting week 5.
Tuesday 3rd June until Friday 4th July. Lessons will be 12 and 12:30. All children will travel to and from the pool by bus.  A note is required if your child is not swimming.  These lessons are free in small groups with pool trained swim instructors, so we all need to make the most of this opportunity.

Friday 13 June: RAPunzel 1:30 NZ Playhouse Theatre Group

Skating Programme:
Tuesday 24th June, Thursday 26th June, Monday 30th June, Wednesday 2nd July.  Skating time will be 11 - 12, and again we will be travelling by bus to and from the pool.

What's Happening Week 11?

This term has flown past, but it has been great to look back and see what learning we have all done - especially me as I get back on the bike teaching in the junior school - I am just loving this.
Congratulations Caity on representing our class so confidently when you said the suscipe at the whole school eisteddfods on Thursday.  Well done.
Last Friday we attended 12 Mass in the church, where we contributed with prayers, reading and songs.  Very proud of the amazing job Rooms 1 - 5 did.  Room 5 especially stepped up as the school leaders, as did we, when we led out Butterfly Song.
Next term I will be away for the first 5 weeks and Mrs Moors will be taking up the reins again.  Both she and the class are looking forward to having her teach again.  I know you will do some amazing things and learn lots about ICT.
PTA AGM: Tuesday - check the website for the time 7pm?  7:30pm? Please consider joining this enthusiastic team who do so much for our school.  Sue Brydges 021 852  355
Interviews are Tuesday and Wednesday.  8 people have already booked and 2 have been to look at results and where their children are at already.  It would be great to meet with everyone so that I'm sure that we have a shared understanding of where to for each child's learning.
Thursday 11am: As part of our Discovery Time "Little Acts of Kindness" we are visiting Ranui and will sing, dance, do gymnastics and present the residents with hand made Easter cards.
Thursday 2pm: Easter Paraliturgy in the church. We hope that many families can share with us this retelling of the Easter story in readings, drama and song.

Lunar Eclipse Invitation

Did You Know
What?: There is going to be a Lunar Eclipse of the Moon This Week.
When?: Tuesday 15th April
Where?: Telescopes will be set up at Alexandra Airport, 6-7pm, with 7pm being the time for the Total Eclipse.
Members of the public are welcome.

For more Information contact:
Barrie Wills - 4488215
or
Alan Thomas -  4488903

This invitation has been sent to us at school to circulate.  In the past I have planned to take classes to the airport to use the telescopes, but these plans have been fraught with problems from cloud cover to no-one available to let us use the telescope. A great opportunity - I hope the weather clears up a bit.

Week 10

Hard to believe where the term has gone.  Easter is nearly here.
Congratulations to Year 3 on well prepared scripture eisteddfods that you presented today in Room 4. A variety of passages, each with a message that you shared clearly. Well done.  Congratulations Nicolas for a very well read bible reading although you are a Year 2. Year 2 will present their prayers with the Junior School after lunch on Tuesday.  A selection of scripture eisteddfods from all classes will be presented in the church at 2pm on Thursday 10th. (Happy Birthday, Ana!)  The Kapahaka group will also perform at this.
Singing for Sue Roy: thank you to those people who have indicated that they will be taking part in this on Tuesday night.  Still not too late to let Mrs Flannery know that you are able to help - an extra hard copy note went out today.
Interviews: thank you to those people who have requested interview times.  I am adding to the timetable, so check it out for the available times.

The key competency we are working on as a class is Managing Self. We are learning to take responsibility for the classroom routines such as bringing reading books & book bags in, reading to me before school, putting book bags into our school bags after reading (not on the floor of the corridor), having a sharp pencil ready for the day before school, putting lunch boxes into our bags after lunch, packing our bags with jerseys and zipping them up before playing. Today there were no jerseys lying in the corridor after school.  Well done Room 3 - you can do it!

At the beginning of next term I will be overseas with my husband for the first five weeks of the term.  We welcome Mrs Moors as the Room 3 teacher during this time.

Young Vinnies CARITAS Appeal

On Wednesday the Young Vinnies will be holding a games afternoon from 1:30 - 2:35.  Please wear your house colours and bring a gold coin donation.
The money raised is going towards the 2014 Lenten Appeal to help with equipping and resourcing schools in the Solomon Islands.

Singing For Sue Roy's Function

HELP!
At this stage I have not had anyone confirm their intention to have their children participate in this event next Tuesday evening.  Could you please let Julie know if your child will be attending as I am unable to attend as it is Board of Trustees meeting night.  Several children have indicated that they will be going, however it would be good to have this confirmed by a parent.

A Late What's Happening Week 9

Sorry all that I haven't posted before this.  I am stage manager for the Clyde Theatre Group's production and every time I have tried to get into the blog I have had the message "safari can't find the server" - this has been at home after 10:30pm!!
Assembly: 2:10 Friday  Rooms 1 & 2 are the presenters
Father Pat visit: Father Pat will join us for meditation on Friday morning and then share a Jesus lesson with us.
Reports: the testing is completed for those people due a report and these will be out next week.  (Gabrielle, Olivia, Tadhg, Nicolas, Jacqui, Lucas, Annajhay, Ella, Thomas M, Bobbie, Sully, Caitlin, Rhianna). It has been great to catch up with one or two people who have looked at their children's 6 year nets with me.
Interviews from this reporting will be on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th of April starting each day at 3:15. If you wish to book a preferred time please email me & I will add it to the booking sheet on the blog. This should be an easy way to see what times are available.
Leprechaun Traps: have been on display in the foyer since last Friday - a great day of making and problem solving when designs didn't quite go to plan.  Some very full oral explanations of how the design works - thank you Mrs Eastwood for typing these up to go with the traps.
Autumn Writing: next week we will aim to have a full page in the school newsletter of our writing which we are still working on. Ana and Thomas M just happened to be showing Mrs Eastwood their writing at the time this week's newsletter was being typed - something about being in the right place at the right time.
Sharing lunches: can you please reinforce at home that items in lunch boxes are not to be shared with other people.  If there is something that your child doesn't like we ask that they take it home to you and tell you - no throwing it in the bin or giving it away.
Eisteddfods: everyone has indicated that they are working on the presentation of a prayer (year 2) or a short reading (year 3).  The year 3 eisteddfods will be heard in Room 4 at 1:30 on Monday. We will all go into Room 4 to support our year threes while they speak - they will be in the first 10 to present.  Year 2 will then return to our class.  The time for the junior school (years 1 & 2) eisteddfods will be posted after I have talked to Mrs Flannery.
Have a great weekend.
