Morning Programme 8/4/2016

Each Monday the children and I look at the Blog so they can see what has been posted over the previous week especially for those who don't get to see it at home.  They absolutely love  reading snippets and of course looking at photos.  At the end of each blog entry is a section for comments.  It would be really great if you as parents made some comments for the children occasionally, especially on the "Morning Programme" entries and any other photos, children's work or summaries of classroom activities  (of course feel free to ask any questions or queries on the more formal entries also).  This would be a fantastic way to begin making this a more interactive site for all to enjoy.

Well here goes todays Morning Programme Crew

First up today was:
Lars.  He spoke to us
about a very "famous author" whose stories we have been really enjoying in room 3.  None other than Roald Dahl.
Who knew his favourite colour was yellow and that he even had a yellow door???  And... his favourite smell was bacon frying in the pan - YUMMO! If Roald Dahl were still alive today he would turn 100 on September 13th this year.

After Lars was:
David.  David spoke about a "current event that has been happening this week, called "GODZone."  Godzone is an adventure race where teams of people have to find their way across all sorts of things like hills and mountains, rivers and lakes and all types tracks for about 500 kilometres.  This takes 5 days and nights or more.  Wow how exhausting!  Richie McCaw's team was raising money for CureKids and they got home last night.

Following David was:
Lily who gave us a special treat as part of her "how to."  Lily explained how to set up for and make Chocolate Fondue.  By golly what a chocolate rush we had!   She even gave us all a copy of the recipe so we can try this delicious treat at home - maybe for a special occasion.
Yummy
Try for yourself

Okey dokey, after Lily was:
Quinn who told us a bit "about himself."  Did you know Quinn is in fact, named after his Mum's family name!  His Samoan name comes from his Papa - how special to have names from both sides of his family.  He was born in our capital city, Wellington and he has two little brothers.

Following Quinn today was Amelia:
Amelia gave us a book review of "Amelia Jane" by Enid Blyton.  The Amelia Jane character is based on a doll that Enid Blyton's daughter used to have. Amelia Jane causes havoc in the nursery and likes to play tricks on all the other toys.  Amelia got this book from her Grandma.

Finally today was:
Archie.  Archie told us about a place that he enjoyed going to for a holiday - Whakatane which is in the North Island.  He said it had an epic beach for swimming, surfing, body boarding...
