Week 2 Term 2

A very busy start to the term once again. It was super to have a whole day with the class on Friday as I was out of the room for most of Wednesday and Thursday. We hope all you wonderful Mothers have a great day and enjoy the crafts your children have made especially for you to say thank you for all you do.

I was very impressed with the standard of the Morning Programme presenters: Greer, Casey, Otis, Adam, Lily A and CharlotteK. Yes there is a photo however I sent it to myself from school and it doesn't seem to be in my emails that I can get here at home.  Watch the Blog for this.  We hope that Mrs Waldron had a wonderful trip to a very special part of New Zealand over the weekend.  I think she will have big news about this on Monday.

On Friday we had our first "Junior Celebration".  This is an opportunity for the junior school to get together and celebrate with certificates, songs and last week we enjoyed reading the book Room 1 had written about 'I Can Write".  Go Room 1.

On Monday I will not be in the classroom again!! as I work with the reading curriculum team at school. School Kapahaka with Ms Tamati on Monday at 11:40 - 12:10. Our year 3's are really stepping up and learning all the words and actions quickly as they mould into the group.  Well done to you all. To make sure that we don't only practise once a fortnight, Mr Yeoman and myself also work with this group each alternate Monday at 2:20. At assembly this week we hope to have the group lead the National Anthem with the girls starting it with  a karanga and the boys doing a haka between the Maori and English version. We were very proud last Wednesday when the whole school sang E Te Ariki to Father Chris Skinner as a song that our school enjoyed. Yes, music, kapahaka and languages are a passion of mine!

Swimming: Tuesday, bring togs, towel and goggles.  No pie warmers or lunch orders please. Girls uniform for the day is the school track pants which can be worn with school blouse or sports shirt and school sweat shirt or jersey.  We leave school at 12:15 to swim at 12:30.  Please eat a big morning tea - we will eat our lunches at the pool after we swim while Room 2 have their lesson. NO SWIMMING THIS THURSDAY as we have a Maori performer Jerome Kavanagh presenting a concert for the whole school.  He will also work with a small group of senior students to design a school haka.

Library information: if Mrs Waldron doesn't already have your completed form please get this to her immediately.  Thank you to the parents who have indicated that they are available to walk with the class to and from the library. All those people who have hi-viz vests must wear them to school every day. Enough have been issued to Room 3 for every second person to be wearing one.  Mrs Eastwood is sourcing more vests so that each child will have one.

Friday = Mass at 12 led by Rooms 1,2&7,    Assembly at 2:10 led by Room 4.
